State-of-the-art ultrasound diagnostics

Facilities at our veterinary hospital include a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for the safe and speedy internal examination of your pet. All vets at our Worksop hospital are fully trained in ultrasound diagnosis.

How does ultrasound diagnosis work?

Ultrasound uses sound waves to create black & white images of a pet’s cavities and organs. These images enable our vets to look inside living organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys, and bladder.

Having an ultrasound scan is completely safe and is a non-invasive way for veterinary surgeons to see what’s going on inside animals in more detail, to help diagnose health problems. The ultrasound images are available immediately, which is key to a speedy diagnosis.

Our ultrasound equipment is also used to assist vets in needle biopsies of internal organs, checking for bladder stones, and is commonly used during pet pregnancies.

Gentle diagnosis of internal pet health problems

Ultrasound scans are usually performed on conscious patients, but occasionally we will use light sedation if appropriate. Our fully qualified nursing team will be caring for your pet whilst the vet performs the ultrasound scan, to ensure they remain calm and comfortable.

Our veterinary team has decades of experience between them when it comes to diagnosing and treating pet illness and injury, and will take exceptional care of your best friend.
